My New Documentary Debuts TONIGHT

As many of you know, there was an accident on the set of Childrens Hospital when we were shooting our season finale ("The Coming" airs 10/24).  There's been a lot of talk about exactly what happened but I'll leave that speculation to others.

But one thing that it brought into relief for me was the nature of the love/hate relationship I've had over the years with one of our long-time cast members, Just Falcon.

Just Falcon at home (2012)

I met Just Falcon in 1987 when we were both drama students.  We lived together in a ramshackle house during those early years. Even then I recognized his special gift.  It needed my shaping and guidance, of course, but the raw talent was there.

After doing a series of shorts together, Falcon starred in my first feature film, The Sandwich which won the Croque Monsieur Award at Cannes.

Just Falcon as "Dr. Glenn Richie"

But he will always be known best to TV fans as Dr. Glenn Richie, the suave yet Jewish head of plastic surgery at the titular institution on Childrens Hospital.

As fruitful and legendary as our creative relationship has been, it has taken its toll on me personally over the decades. This is the duality that I have chosen to explore in the form of a new documentary, My Friend Falcon, which airs tonight (Thurs 10/17/13) at 12 midnight on Adult Swim, in the time slot normally occupied by Childrens Hospital.

The film is a personal exploration. It asks many questions. As for the answers, well, that might be for you all to decide. I hope you'll watch tomorrow night and join me on this spiritual journey -- a journey to find the soul of a man -- and a friendship.

Best,

David Wain

"Country Weekend" tonight

In tonight's episode of Childrens Hospital we meet all of our doctors' significant others as they gather in the country for Cat (Lake Bell)'s wedding to music industry man Michael (Justin Kirk).

But then...someone is murdered. And someone else has sex on a toilet. Other guests include Judah Friedlander, Carla Gallo, Richard Kind and a surprise cameo.

And Malin Akerman returns joining regulars Ken Marino, Erinn Hayes, Rob Huebel & Rob Corddry.

Directed by Ken Marino and written by me.
