Update: Wet Hot American Summer

(part 3 of my 4 part series of things I forgot to blog about this summer)

This has been a crazy fun anniversary summer for Wet Hot American Summer which seems to be going stronger than ever after ten(!) years.

It started with the gallery show in Los Angeles.

On August 2nd we had a big celebration in Williamsburg, hosted by Stella (Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter and me), with appearances (on stage and/or video) from just about everyone from the original cast, plus live music from the movie by the Losers Lounge band and an amazing group of singers.

It started with this intro video by Frank Pulaski:

Here's Victor Pulak (Ken Marino) and Amy Miles singing "Danny's Song":

A big highlight for me was a special appearance from borscht belt comedian Alan Shemper who you may remember hosted the talent show in the original movie. Here's a clip:

Here's a ton of photos from Anya Garrett and a write up from Vulture. New York Times covered it in this video starting about 1:40 in.

Special thanks to Marianne Ways who put it all together.

The movie's ten year year anniversary got lots of coverage in the press - some of my favorite stuff:

  • This piece from LaughSpin
  • A whole series of interviews on Entertainment Weekly's website that were also featured in a six(!) page feature in the magazine.
  • An interview with me and Showalter from VanityFair.com.
  • A beautifully written love letter from Robin Hardwick.
  • A fun podcast visit to Scott Aukerman's Comedy Bang Bang with Paul Rudd and Ken Marino. Download the episode here and/or get a taste with this hot summer rap we did:

  • My interview with Jeff Goldsmith for his Q&A podcast was mentioned in Paste's list of 10 best podcasts
  • Elizabeth Banks talks Wet Hot in an esquire interview.
  • And last but certainly not least an exhaustive, epic oral history of the making of Wet Hot, told by the cast & filmmakers to Details Magazine.

AND COMING UP NEXT...

For those of you in the middle of the country who missed all the fun - come join me (IN PERSON!) at a special screening and Q&A of the movie at the Music Box in Chicago on October 5th, presented by The Onion A/V Club - info here

And finally to answer the question I get on a daily basis about a potential Wet Hot sequel...the wheels are in motion.

P.S. You can still watch the actual movie on netflix or DVD. Unfortunately no blu-ray yet.

Update: Wainy Days

(part 2 of my 4 part series of things I forgot to blog about this summer)

We had super fun Wainy Days LIVE show at the Montreal Comedy Festival in July.

LaughSpin did a write up on the show.

Stay tuned for more news on new Wainy Days episodes and the incredible DVD we're putting together that should be out very soon! Meanwhile you can catch up on the previous 32 episodes here.

Update: Wanderlust

(part 1 of my 4 part series of things I forgot to blog about this summer)

I know it's been a long time since I updated you all on the process of making Wanderlust.

It's definitely been a long process in postproduction, but we're almost done! We did a great sound mix here in New York at Sound One, and work is happening on all the final touches as well as trailers, posters, etc. The release date is now February 24. Very excited for you all to finally see it! I believe first trailers will be out in a couple of months or so.

One thing I can tell you about the shoot is that I learned what a huge dick Paul Rudd is. Here's a report I did for GQ about it about it.

Tonight's the Night, Montreal!

o8919s We're cooking up a rockin show tonight, Montreal...if you like the web series, you'll love the live show!

WAINY DAYS LIVE will be chock full of entertainment, including amazing guest stars:

• Roastmaster General Jeffrey Ross! • Sexy songsters Garfunkle & Oats! • Scary clown doctor Rob Corddry! • Crazy sampler crooner Reggie Watts

And there will be games, never-before-seen outtakes, comedy, music, fun for all!
