Brooklyn Wet Hot Photos

Last week's screening of Wet Hot American Summer in Brooklyn Bridge Park was so much fun.  I was thrilled to be there with Michael Showalter, A.D. Miles, Amy Poehler, Paul Rudd and producer Howard Bernstein. Flooded with memories. Here are some photos.  Thanks to Alison Hughes who organized the event! [gallery link="file"]

another Wet Hot American Summer

Happy summer everyone.  I've been sweating it out on the streets of Brooklyn shooting They Came Together along with producer/co-writer Michael Showalter and an amazing cast led by Paul Rudd and Amy Poehler.  More on that soon.

Meanwhile - August is coming which means Wet Hot American Summer outdoor screenings all over the place (11 years in!).

The biggest hometown one happens this Thurs, Aug 2nd in Brooklyn Bridge Park. DJ Conquerrah spins starting 6pm, and movie begins at sunset. We're actually shooting that night, but if there's any way we can make it, we'll be there.

There's also one at Hollywood Forever in L.A. August 18th.

Other tidbits:

If you haven't been watching Comedy Bang! Bang! you are missing one of the funniest new shows on TV right now. An off-shoot of Scott Aukerman's live show & podcast, the TV show makes me laugh week after week - to me it's something like Space Ghost Coast to Coast mixed with early David Letterman. I am honored to appear on the current episode (with Elizabeth Banks) as bitter TV critic Gordon Thatchet. More here.

The Childrens Hospital Complete Season 3 DVD is out. 14 earth shattering episodes chronicling the dramas and sex lives of doctors played by Rob Corddry, Malin Akerman, Lake Bell, Erinn Hayes, Rob Huebel, Ken Marino, Megan Mullally, Zandy Hartig and Henry Winkler, along with a boat load of guest stars (including me returning both as Rabbi Jewy McJewJew and as myself.) If you don't believe me, here's a review from BlogCritics.  If you don't believe reviews - how about the fact that we are nominated for an EMMY AWARD?!  Order from Amazon

Then set your DVR now for the ALL NEW Childrens Hospital Season 4, premiering August 9th on [adult swim].  We've gone all out this year - every episode is like an epic (and stupid) movie smooshed into a quarter-hour TV show.  We're very proud of this season and hope you'll check it out. Here's our new Childrens Tumblr!

Here's the first PROMO:

Sketchfest 2012

Once again San Francisco Sketchfest was a blast! Thanks to all of you who came out. ON SATURDAY AFTERNOON we did the Wet Hot American Summer radio play at the Marines’ Memorial Theater. It was so surreal and fun to have original cast members recreating their original roles from when we shot the movie in 2000:

  • Paul Rudd (Andy)
  • Michael Showalter (Coop)
  • Ken Marino (Victor)
  • Marguerite Moreau (Katie)
  • Michael Ian Black (McKinley)
  • Amy Poehler (Susie)
  • Joe Lo Truglio (Neil)
  • Christopher Meloni (Gene)
  • Molly Shannon (Gail)
  • Samm Levine (Arty)

Then the rest of the roles were played by an incredible group of guest stars:

  • Busy Philipps (Beth)
  • Colin Hanks (Gary)
  • David Cross (Professor Neumann)
  • Bruce McCulloch (Aaron)
  • Gillian Jacobs (Lindsay)
  • Jessi Klein (Abby)
  • Josh Malina (JJ)
  • John Hodgman (Caped Boy)
  • Andy Richter (Ron)
  • Marc Evan Jackson (Ben)
  • Annie Savage (Cure Girl)
  • Mark Gagliardi (Steve)
  • Hal Lublin (Medieval Kid)
  • Craig Cackowski (Moose)

And in an amazing cameo turn as the Can of Vegetables, in costume, Bobcat Goldthwait!

Plus Jonathan Dinnerstein meticulously re-created the entire score on the piano. Ben Blacker & Ben Acker (from Thrilling Adventure Hour) put it all together.

Many have asked if this will be released publicly - I don’t know yet but will post here when I do.

SUNDAY MORNING Michael Showalter and I hosted a “table read” at the Eureka Theater for They Came Together, a screenplay we wrote right after Wet Hot American Summer which never got made. I have to think everyone had fun because we had to stop a few times because the cast was laughing too hard.

That afternoon some of us went back to the same theater to see Beverly Winwood’s Actors Showcase, a Groundlings show that had me convulsing with laughter.

Finally on Sunday night, STELLA (Michael Ian Black, Michael Showalter and me) hosted a comedy show at the Mezzanine with Release the Sunbird playing great songs all night.

The all-star lineup of comics was Ron Funches, Will Franken, Jessi Klein, Matt Besser, Brent Weinbach and Bobcat Goldthwait. Plus cameo appearances from our Wet Hot cast-mates Paul Rudd and Marguerite Moreau!

Thank you SF! And thank you David, Janet and Cole (SF Sketchfest founders) for always mounting such a fun event! (PS if anyone has good photos please link to them in the comments!)

I’m super tired.

But guess what - only one more month until Wanderlust

ADDENDUM: Here's some more photos at EW Popwatch from the Wet Hot event.
